Germany's G20 presidency runs from 1 December 2016 until the end of November 2017. During this time, it also chairs the G20 Troika, whose other members are China, as the previous holder of the presidency, and Argentina, as the next in line.

The tasks of the presidency include setting the agenda and organizing the G20 meetings. The 2017 summit of the G20 heads of state or government will be held on 7 and 8 July in Hamburg. Prior to that, the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors will convene their first meeting on 17 and 18 March in Baden-Baden. They will also meet on the sidelines of the IMF meetings in April and October in Washington.
