Australian Bureau of Statistics

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is the statistical agency of the Government of Australia. The ABS provides key statistics on a wide range of economic, population, environmental and social issues, to assist and encourage informed decision making, research and discussion within governments and the community.

      The Consumer Price Index (CPI) measures quarterly changes in the price of a 'basket' of goods and services which account for a high proportion of expenditure by the CPI population group (i.e. metropolitan households). This 'basket' covers a wide range of goods and services, arranged in the following eleven groups:Food and non-alcoholic beveragesAlcohol and tobaccoClothing and footwearHousingFurnishings, household equipment and servicesHealthTransportCommunicationRecreation and cultureEducationInsurance and financial services.

      Australia : Expenditure on Gross Domestic Product (GDP) REVISION VALUES AT CURRENT PRICES (Revision): Most figures are subject to revision as more complete and accurate information becomes available. The revisions are of two types: those made to recent quarters and those made as a consequence of a redistribution across all quarters within a year following revisions to annual totals.
