The industrial domestic output price index measures the average price development of all goods and related services resulting from the activity of the industry sector and sold on the domestic market. The domestic output price index shows the monthly development of transaction prices of economic activities. The domestic market is defined as customers resident in the same national territory as the observation unit. Data are compiled according to the Statistical classification of economic activities in the European Community, (NACE Rev. 2, Eurostat). Industrial producer prices are compiled as a "fixed base year Laspeyres type price-index". The current base year is 2010 (Index 2010 = 100). Indexes, as well as both growth rates with respect to the previous month (M/M-1) and with respect to the corresponding month of the previous year (M/M-12) are presented in raw form.

This consumption stands for final energy consumption. This means that the consumption in industry covers all industrial sectors with the exception of the energy sector, like power stations, oil refineries, coke ovens and all other installations transforming energy products into another form. Final energy consumption in transport covers mainly the consumption by railways and electrified urban transport systems. Final energy consumption in households/services covers quantities consumed by private households, small-scale industry, crafts, commerce, administrative bodies, services with the exception of transportation, agriculture and fishing.

Imports are recorded by country of origin, exports by country of destination; quantities are regarded as imported or exported when they have crossed the political boundaries of the country, whether customs clearance has taken place or not.  The concept of the physical movement of flows applies. The monthly imports and exports data collections cover following energy commodities: solid  fuels (hard coal only)oil and petroleum productsgaselectricity      For solid fuels, crude oil and NGLs, imports and exports are reported by country of ultimate origin, respectively destination, while natural gas, refinery products and feedstocks as well as electricity are reported as coming from the country of last consignment. Quantities of crude oil and petroleum products imported or exported under processing agreements (i.e. refining on account) should be included. However, transit trade, international marine and aviation bunkers are excluded from this data set. Please note that this is different from the definition of natural gas trade in the annual gas questionnaire and from the definition in the previous monthly oil and gas questionnaire (before January 2013). For further information, please consult the Energy Statistics Regulation (Regulation (EC) 1099/2008 on energy statistics) and the reporting instructions. Enerdata is an independent Research & Consulting firm on the global oil, gas, coal, power, renewable and carbon markets established in 1991. Total energy consumption - for each energy product it is the sum of primary production, external trade, marine bunkers (fuel used by boats and aircraft for international transport) and stock variations. For the world, marine bunkers are included. This induces a gap with the sum of regions. Total primary production evaluates the quantity of natural energy resources. Total balance of trade is the difference between exports and imports. The balance of a net exporter appears as a negative value (-). The balance of geographic and geopolitical zones is simply the sum of the trade balance of all the countries. The energy intensity is calculated by dividing the total energy consumption of a country by its Gross Domestic Product (GDP). It measures the total amount of energy necessary to generate one unit of GDP. GDP is expressed at constant exchange rate and purchasing power parity to remove the impact of inflation and reflect differences in general price levels and relate energy consumption to the real level of economic activity. Using purchasing power parity rates for GDP instead of exchange rates increases the value of GDP in regions with a low cost of living, and therefore decreases their energy intensities. Total energy includes coal, gas, oil, electricty, heat and biomass.

Consumption of energy depends strongly on weather conditions. Natural gas or heating oil bills for instance will be noticeably higher in severe winters. If the temperature decreases below a certain value, "heating threshold", more energy is consumed due to increased need for space heating.  Taking this into account, Eurostat launched a project aiming at the development and implementation of a common method for the climatic correction of final energy consumption for space heating purposes in the 28 Member States of the European Union. December IEA member countries’ closing oil stock levels in days of net imports monthly data. Each IEA member country, excluding net exporters (Canada, Denmark and Norway), has an obligation to have oil stock levels that equate to no less than 90 days of net imports. The IEA minimum stockholding obligation is based on net imports of all oil, including both primary products (such as crude oil, natural gas liquids [NGLs]) and refined products. It does not cover naphtha and volumes of oil used for international marine bunkers. The 90-day commitment of each IEA member country is based on average daily net imports of the previous calendar year. This commitment can be met through both stocks held exclusively for emergency purposes and stocks held for commercial or operational use, including stocks held at refineries, at port facilities, and in tankers in ports. The obligation specifies several types of stocks that cannot be counted toward the commitment, including military stocks, volumes in tankers at sea, in pipelines or at service stations, or amounts held by end-consumers (tertiary stocks). It also does not include crude oil not yet produced. Member countries can arrange to store oil outside of their national boundaries and include such stocks in meeting their minimum requirement. This option is particularly important for countries in which storage capacity constraints or supply logistics make domestic storage insufficient. To exercise this option and count the stocks held abroad toward the obligation, the governments involved must have bilateral agreements assuring unconditional access to the stocks in an emergency. When evaluating a country's compliance with the 90-day obligation, the IEA applies a 10% deduction to its total stocks, net any oil held under bilateral agreements. This accounts for any volumes that are technically unavailable (such as tank bottoms).

SBS series on Purchases of energy products in industry are closely related to other SBS domains for which separate metadata files have been compiled (See annex at the bottom of the page). They cover the NACE Rev 1.1 sections C and D. The information has been collected once every two years (odd numbered years). Several characteristics on Purchases of energy products in industry have been defined. From 1997 till 2001 an extended series of characteristics was used, but the availability was limited, as not all EU member states have collected the data. 20 21 0 Purchases of hard coal 20 22 0 Purchases of coke 20 23 0 Purchases of patent fuels 20 24 0 Purchases of gas oil 20 25 0 Purchases of heavy fuel oil 20 26 0 Purchases of other petroleum products 20 27 0 Purchases of natural gas 20 28 0 Purchases of derived gas 20 29 0 Purchases of renewable energy sources 20 30 0 Purchases of heat 20 31 0 Purchases of electricity Since 2003, a more restricted set of characteristics is used: 20 11 1 Purchases of solid fuels 20 11 2 Purchases of petroleum products 20 11 3 Purchases of natural and derived gas 20 11 4 Purchases of renewable energy sources 20 11 5 Purchases of heat 20 11 6 Purchases of electricity The perspective is the energy cost: therefore the value of all purchases is collected. There isn't any information available on the quantities purchased.

Eurostat Dataset Id: nrg_143m The monthly oil stocks collection covers the supply of crude oil and petroleum products to the Community. It covers stocks in the following locations: refinery tanks, bulk terminals, pipeline tankage, barges and intercostal tankers (when port of departure and destination are in the same country), tankers in a port of a member country (if their cargo is to be discharged at the port), inland ship bunkers. Exclude military stocks, stocks held in pipelines, in rail tanks cars, in truck tanks cars, in sea-going ships' bunkers, in service stations, in retail stores and in tankers at sea. Two main types of stockholding obligations are existing : • Emergency stocks, where all Member States are obliged to keep a certain volume of crude oil and petroleum products, based on the annual level of net imports or the annual level of consumption (specifically for producers). • Specific stocks, where Member States may undertake a commitment to maintain a certain volume of petroleum products, owned by the Government or the Central Stockholding Entity. Monthly oil stocks data collection covers the full spectrum of the 28 Member States of the European Union, from 2013 onwards.

The OPEC Annual Statistical Bulletin (ASB) provides detailed and comprehensive time-series data on many different aspects of the global petroleum industry, including production, demand, imports and exports, as well as exploration, production and transportation activities. The publication contains, in particular, key statistical data on oil and natural gas activities in each of OPEC’s 12 Member Countries: Algeria, Angola, Ecuador, Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Venezuela. Additionally, it provides valuable industry data for various countries with detailed classifications mainly by geographical region, and covers the major economic areas around the world. This year’s 2015 ASB, which comprises data up to the end of 2014, includes the following important highlights:In 2014, world crude oil production averaged at 73.4 million barrels/day, increasing by 0.7 per cent, over 2013. Noticeable increases originated in North America, particularly the US, as well as in Western Europe, more specifically Norway. Crude oil production declined year-on-year in Africa and the Middle East, and remained relatively flat in other regions. Crude oil production in OPEC Member Countries reached 30.7m b/d during 2014, down 2.9 per cent from 2013, year-on-year. The overall OPEC share to the world crude production total in 2014 was at 41.8 per cent, lower than in 2013, when it was 43.3 per cent. Non-OPEC oil supply and OPEC NGLs, as well as non-conventional oil production inched to 62.3m b/d, increasing by 3.9 per cent as compared to the 2013 levels.World oil demand averaged at 91.3m b/d in 2014, up by 1.1 per cent year-on-year, with the largest increases taking place in China, the Middle East — particularly in Saudi Arabia, Islamic Republic of Iran, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, — and in non-OECD Asia. The 2014 oil demand in Africa and Latin America continued its upward trend, while oil demand declined for another year in Western Europe. Total OECD oil demand fell slightly during 2014, while oil demand in OPEC Member Countries increased strongly for another year by 2.9 per cent, as compared to 2013. Distillates and gasoline account for around 55 per cent of total world oil demand and are on increasing trend, while residual fuel oil requirements declined for another year.In 2014, the majority of crude oil from OPEC Member Countries was exported to Asian and Pacific countries (13.7m b/d or 60.4 per cent). Substantial volumes of crude oil from OPEC Member Countries were also exported to Europe (3.8m b/d or 16.7 per cent) and North America (3.1m b/d or 13.9 per cent). Asian and Pacific countries were the largest importers of OPEC Member Countries petroleum products (2.7m b/d or 60.8 per cent). North America was the region in 2014 that recorded the largest yearly increase in oil exports (0.7 m b/d or 11.7 per cent) with the bulk of these volumes being petroleum products. OPEC Member Countries petroleum products exports in 2014 stood at 4.5m b/d, while during the same year the imports were at 1.6m b/d, up 1.4 per cent year-on-year.World proven crude oil reserves stood at 1,492.9 billion barrels at the end of 2014, 0.2 per cent higher as compared to the end of 2013. The largest non-OPEC additions originated in North America, particularly the US, as well as Asia and Pacific predominantly China and India. Proven crude oil reserves in OPEC Member Countries remained largely unchanged at the end of 2014, as compared to 2013 and reached a level of 1,206bn b. The overall OPEC percentage share of world proven crude oil reserved at the end of 2014 stood at 80.8 per cent. OPEC Member Countries remained important players in the natural gas market during 2014, with proven natural gas reserves of 95,129bn standard cubic metres. This marked a slight increase of 0.1 per cent from 2013, with a total world share of 47.3 per cent. The refinery capacity of OPEC Member Countries increased by 0.6m b/cd or 5.4 per cent during 2014 compared to 2013, with the bulk of increases originating in the Middle East. In 2014, OPEC Member Countries held 11.6 per cent of total world refinery capacity in 2014. World refinery capacity rose by 0.9m b/d in 2014. Gains in Asia Pacific, as well as North and Latin America have been partly offset by losses in Western Europe. The 2014 world refinery capacity inched to 95.7m b/cd during 2014.The OPEC Reference Basket averaged at $96.29/b in 2014, down from $105.87/b in 2013 and following a steep decline in the second half of 2014. This represented a decrease of $9.58/b or 9.0 per cent with a volatility of $14.56/b or, equivalently, 15.1 per cent relative to the yearly average. The minimum monthly average crude price was $59.46/b in December 2014 and the maximum was $107.89/b in June 2014.

This indicator is defined as the number of EMAS-registered organisations and sites. The Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) is a voluntary environmental management system implemented by companies and other organisations from all sectors of economic activity including local authorities, to evaluate, report on and improve their environmental performance. The scheme integrates ISO 14001 (International Standard for Environmental Management System) as its environmental management system element. Since April 2001, corporate registrations are possible, wherein organisations gather all their sites under one registration number. The European Commission started to collect numbers of sites in addition to number of organisations in March 2004 to give a more accurate picture of EMAS development.

Eurostat ID : tsdcc120 Data descriptionThis dataset covers the indicator for monitoring progress towards energy efficiency targets of Europe 2020 strategy implemented by Directive 2012/27/EU on energy efficiency.Annual data collection cover in principle the 28 Member States of the European Union. Time series starts in year 1990.Classification systemEnergy statistics is an integral part of the European system of statistics. Therefore, they also rely on classifications and nomenclatures developed in other fields.Classifications, nomenclatures and correspondence tables are available at the Eurostat’s classification server RAMON. The classification of the economic activities both in carrying out the surveys and in presenting the results is in accordance to NACE Rev.2. Energy commodities/carriers are in general broadly consistent with the draft version of the UN’s International Recommendations for Energy Statistics (especially its chapter 3: “Standard International Energy Product Classification”).Coverage - sectorEnergy statistics data covers all major sectors of the economy that are involved in the production, trade, energy transformation and energy consumption (the energy sector, industrial sector, transport, commercial and public services, agricultural/forestry/fishing and residential).Classifications, nomenclatures and correspondence tables are available at the Eurostat’s classification server RAMON.For further detail information on NACE rev. 2 divisions, groups or class please consult the reporting instructions.Statistical concepts and definitionsFor energy statistics, definitions, concepts and methodology are harmonised on the international level. The methodology is described in the Energy Statistics Manual. For energy balances, the methodology is not harmonised at international level - international organisations as well as member states apply various approaches when constructing energy balances.Definitions of Annex A and Annex B of Regulation (EC) No 1099/2008 on energy statistics applies. The relationships between products and flows of Eurostat’s energy balances follow standard principles of commodity balance.Definitions are available at the Eurostat’s classification server RAMON.Statistical unitStatistical unit may vary in the annual energy statistics. A statistical unit in energy statistics can be for example: enterprises, local units, establishment or household.Reporting units in energy statistics might be: producers, importers, exporters of oil and petroleum products, households. For detailed information on statistical units, see Council Regulation (EEC) No 696/93 of 15 March 1993 on the statistical units for the observation and analysis of the production system in the Community (Official Journal of the European Communities No L 076, 30/03/1993, p. 1), Section III of 15.03.1993 on the statistical units for the observation and analysis of the production system in the Community.Statistical populationNot available.Reference areaAnnual energy data series cover in principle the 28 Member States of the European Union, EFTA-countries (Iceland and Norway), candidate countries (Montenegro, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Albania, Serbia and Turkey) and potential candidate countries (Bosnia & Herzegovina and Kosovo (UNSCR 1244/99)). The EU and Eurozone aggregates are also calculated.Coverage - TimeTime series start in 1990 for the vast majority of countries.Base periodYear 2005 was chosen as base year for the index of energy consumption and also as a base year for energy saving indicators.

Any kind of extraction of energy products from natural sources to a usable form is called primary production. Primary production takes place when the natural sources are exploited, for example in coal mines, crude oil fields, hydro power plants or fabrication of biofuels. Transformation of energy from one form to another, like electricity or heat generation in thermal power plants or coke production in coke ovens is not primary production.

Short-term statistics (STS) give information on a wide range of economic activities according to NACE Rev.2 classification (Statistical Classification of Economic Activities in the European Community). The industrial import price indices offer information according to the CPA classification (Statistical Classification of Products by Activity in the European Economic Community). Construction indices are broken down by Classification of Types of Construction (CC). All data under this heading are index data. Percentage changes are also available for each indicator. The index data are generally presented in the following forms: UnadjustedCalendar adjustedSeasonally adjusted Depending on the STS regulation data are accessible as monthly, quarterly and annual data. This heading covers the indicators listed below in four different sectors. Based on the national data, Eurostat compiles EU and euro area infra-annual economic statistics. Among these, a list of indicators, called Principal European Economic Indicators (PEEIs) has been identified by key users as being of prime importance for the conduct of monetary and economic policy of the euro area. These indicators are mainly released through Eurostat's website under the heading Euro-indicators. There are eight PEEIs contributed by STS and they are marked with * in the text below. The OECD indicators of regulation in energy, transport and communications (ETCR) summarise regulatory provisions in seven sectors: telecoms, electricity, gas, post, rail, air passenger transport, and road freight. The ETCR indicators have been estimated in a long-time series and are therefore well suited for time-series analysis. The ETCR time series was updated, revised and now cover 34 OECD countries and a set of non-OECD countries for 2013. Users of the data must be aware that they may no longer fully reflect the current situation in fast reforming countries. Not all data are available for all countries for all years.

Since September 2014, national accounts are compiled in accordance with the European System of Accounts - ESA 2010. Supply, use and input-output tables are part of the National Accounts transmission program. The timeliness for supply, use and input-output tables is set to 36 months after the end of the reference year. For example, data for the year 2011 should be transmitted to Eurostat not later than by end of December 2014. The transmission program sets the requirements for the transmission of national data by Member States and partners countries. Every year countries transmit the supply and use tables. Every 5 years (for reference years ending with 0 or 5) countries transmit input-output tables (product by product) and detailed use tables at basic prices and valuation tables. Data are presented in million Euro in current prices (basic prices and a transformation into purchaser's prices for the supply side). The geographic coverage is the Member States of EU. Regulation (EU) No 549/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 May 2013 on the European system of national and regional accounts in the European Union defines the requirements for Member States. The EU and EA consolidated Supply, use and input-output tables describe by product and industry the production processes and the transactions in products of the European Union economy with great detail. The consolidated supply, use and input-output tables for the EU describe the aggregation of the EU Member States data, from which the intra trade data has been treated (respectively for the Euro Area). The data is presented in a framework where the domestic part corresponds to the area of EU, the import part corresponds to imports from outside of the area EU.

The “Sustainable Energy for all (SE4ALL)” initiative, launched in 2010 by the UN Secretary General, established three global objectives to be accomplished by 2030: to ensure universal access to modern energy services, to double the global rate of improvement in global energy efficiency, and to double the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix. SE4ALL database supports this initiative and provides country level historical data for access to electricity and non-solid fuel; share of renewable energy in total final energy consumption by technology; and energy intensity rate of improvement.

The Energy Statistics Database contains basic statistics for more than 215 countries/territories. Currently, the database provides time series for the period 1950-2009 and is updated annually during the period October-November.The Energy Statistics Database provides statistics on production, trade, transformation and consumption (end-use) for primary and secondary, conventional, non-conventional and new and renewable sources of energy, as well as population estimates to enable the calculation of per capita indicators. The database contains data in their original units (e.g. metric tonnes, GWh) and also calorific values to allow interfuel comparison in a common energy unit (terajoules). The main source of information for the Energy Statistics Database is the UNSD Annual Questionnaire on Energy Statistics. Additional sources of information for the database include national, regional and international statistical publications (including, but not limited to publications from: the International Energy Agency (OECD/IEA), the Statistical Office of the European Communities (Eurostat), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), the Organización Latinoamericana de Energía (OLADE), etc.). The Statistics Division prepares estimates where official data are incomplete or inconsistent.

The Energy Trilemma Index, produced in partnership with global management consultancy Oliver Wyman, along with the Global Risk Centre of its parent Marsh & McLennan Companies, is a comparative ranking of 130 countries, benchmarking the sustainability of energy systems and awarding countries with a balance score, highlighting how well countries manage the trade-offs between the three trilemma goals. Together with its companion, the World Energy Trilemma report, the Index proves an effective tool to assist policymakers as they set climate and development goals, businesses as they set their medium and long-term strategies and investors. The Index also includes a ‘watch list’, highlighting countries that are expected to display significant changes in trilemma performance over the next few years, in light of recent policy changes, unscheduled incidents or undealt with structural issues. In 2015, South Africa and the US join Germany, Italy, Japan and the UK on negative watch, whilst the Philippines and Serbia are put on positive watch, alongside Mexico and the United Arab Emirates. Now in its fifth edition, the 2015 Index shows signs of progress for all dimensions of the energy trilemma, although it remains a struggle for most countries to develop a balanced approach, with only two countries out of 130 obtaining a ‘AAA’ balance score. While the transition towards sustainable, balanced energy systems is slowly occurring, progress can be sped up by creating robust and stable policy frameworks. In the run-up to the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP21), the Index supports the messages from the World Energy Council welcoming the bottom-up ‘Intended Nationally Determined Contributions’ process and emphasising the need for strong national energy policy frameworks based on a trilemma approach to effectively implement international objectives. The 2015 World Energy Trilemma: priority actions on climate change and how to balance the trilemma report  recommends a meaningful agreement supported by a focus on clearly identified action areas that enable and  accelerate the transition towards low-carbon energy systems.   1. The Energy Trilemma Index ranks countries in terms of their likely ability to provide sustainable energy policies through the three dimensions of the energy trilemma:a) Energy security: The effective management of primary energy supply from domestic and external sources, the reliability of energy infrastructure, and the ability of participating energy companies to meet current and future demand.b) Energy equity: The accessibility and affordability of energy supply across the population.c) Environmental sustainability: The achievement of supply and demand-side energy efficiencies and the development of energy supply from renewable and other low-carbon sources 2. The Index rank measures overall performance and the balance score highlights how well a country manages the trade-offs between the above mentioned three competing dimensions3. There is positive correlation between Score and Rank, as score is high rank will be high ( (0≤score≤10, Best rank is 1)
