South Africa has had a negative current account balance to GDP for last 8 years and it reached the highest level of -1.5% in 2010. The lowest level of the current account balance as a percentage of GDP was observed in 2013 followed by the growth up to 2016. IMF who gives a forecast beyond 2018 predicts current account balance to stay around the level of -3.5% until 2021.
